About Sean O’Connor
I believe each person has a unique story, shaped by experiences of joy and sorrow, peace and fear, love and loss. I want to offer you a space where you can share your story with compassion, respect, and without judgment. I hope to understand your inner world—what has shaped you, what values guide you, what challenges you face, and what hopes and goals you carry. Within an attuned therapeutic relationship, I seek to help you heal from past wounds, grow in self-understanding, recognize and build upon your strengths, and experience more fully the healing love and mercy of Christ’s Sacred Heart. Together, we can work toward greater freedom, resilience, and hope as you continue your story.
I am a Resident in Counseling who works with adults, children, adolescents, and couples. I received my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Divine Mercy University. I have experience working with clients facing a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, addiction, trauma, mood disorders, grief, and neurodevelopmental conditions such as ADHD and autism. I have also provided faith-integrated counseling to students at Christendom College, helping them navigate life transitions, academic demands, relationships, and vocational discernment.
Before becoming a professional counselor, I spent seven years working as an academic counselor within an accredited homeschool program, supporting both parents and high school students. This experience deepened my appreciation for the joys, complexities, and challenges of family life and has shaped my desire to support individuals and families with both compassion and practical understanding.
My therapeutic approach is grounded in a person-centered understanding of the human person and informed by the Catholic vision of human dignity. I believe each client possesses inherent dignity and goodness as a child of God, and I strive to create a therapeutic relationship in which clients feel known, respected, and empowered. I draw from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Attachment Theory, and Sandtray Therapy, tailoring treatment to each client’s individual needs and goals.
In working with couples, my clinical training includes Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the Gottman Method. I help couples reduce patterns of conflict, better understand one another’s underlying needs, deepen emotional connection, and cultivate a more secure and resilient relationship. With children, I incorporate Child-Centered Play Therapy and Sandtray Therapy to provide developmentally appropriate ways for children to express themselves, develop greater self-awareness and self-worth, strengthen self-regulation, and grow in responsibility and resilience.
I am available for both in-person and virtual appointments.
