Now Accepting Applications for Fall 2026 Internship
Internship Program
Sacred Heart Counseling offers a clinical internship experience for graduate counseling students who are seeking strong supervision, meaningful clinical work, and a collegial, faith-integrated environment. Interns are welcomed as valued members of our team and are supported as they grow in clinical skill, confidence, and professional identity.
Our Approach to Training
Interns at Sacred Heart Counseling are part of a collaborative and supportive team culture. We emphasize thoughtful clinical work, ethical practice, and care for the whole person—client and clinician alike.
Interns receive:
Individual supervision and triadic supervision, integrated with a Catholic understanding of the human person
Supervision that is developmentally appropriate, supportive, and clinically rigorous
Opportunities for reflection on the integration of faith and clinical practice, when appropriate to the intern and the client
Participation in weekly staff meetings, fostering collegial connection, case consultation, and professional formation within a private practice setting
Scheduling flexibility, with attention to academic commitments and the developmental needs of interns while maintaining consistency of care for clients
Clinical Experience
Interns have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients and presenting concerns, including:
Individuals and couples
Children, adolescents, and adults
Clients of varying backgrounds, genders, and life stages
A wide range of presenting issues, depending on interest, training level, and availability
At this time, Sacred Heart Counseling does not offer existing therapy groups. However, highly motivated interns may propose and develop a therapy group, with approval and appropriate supervision. If a group experience is required by the intern’s university, he or she may also seek an additional placement to meet this requirement.
Internship Timeline
For fall placements beginning in August, our anticipated timeline is:
Application deadline: March 30
Interviews: Scheduled throughout April
Offers extended: By the end of April
Intern confirmation deadline: May 1
This timeline is designed to be respectful of students’ academic requirements while allowing for a thoughtful and intentional matching process.
